Smithsonian 4th of July Invitation

Project Overview

Founded in 1846, the Smithsonian is the world’s largest museum and research complex, consisting of 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoological Park and nine research facilities.

Each year, the Smithsonian invites guests to enjoy a gala picnic dinner and viewing of the national fireworks display from the rooftop of the National Museum of American History.

The invitation we created needed to capture the upscale, yet patriotic and celebratory nature of the event. Our concept uses bold red, white and blue radiating graphics that immediately say “fireworks.” Printing on a tactile and shimmery paper suggests the prestige and elegance of the event. The invitation strategically unfolds, pacing the invitation's content and also building to the fortissimo graphic finale.
